On Thursday, September 21, 2023, at around 12:08 p.m., a tragic collision occurred on US26 east of Irwin, Idaho. A 25-year-old man from Turnerville, Wyoming, driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, veered into eastbound lanes, crashing into a Kenworth boom truck operated by a 28-year-old Rexburg man. The Equinox driver died at the scene, though both drivers were belted.
The crash shut down the roadway for five hours. Idaho State Police, leading the investigation, are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should contact (208) 528-3400. They were assisted on-site by local agencies including the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
