The Jackson Town Council has decided to limit public comment on the future of the Teton County Fairgrounds.
A Town Council workshop scheduled for Monday morning will be the only chance for the public to comment on a contentious plan to tear down the Teton County Fairgrounds exhibit hall on Snow King Avenue and replace it with a low-income apartment building.
The Flat Creek Apartment project would consist of 48 apartments with restrictions for workforce housing.
The Jackson Teton County Housing Department had applied to rezone the 1-acre project site from P/SP to NH-1, which would have allowed for more public comment on the proposal. That application was withdrawn however, because a revised internal interpretation by the Town Planning Director declared that the apartments were an accessory use
After Monday’s public hearing, unless the Town Council decides to take more public comment, the project will proceed straight to building permit stage. The exhibit hall is slated to be demolished by the Town this fall.
The meeting starts at 9am at the Town Hall on Pearl Street.
