The Bridger-Teton National Forest has opened a public comment period for its “E-bike Use Designation on Select Jackson Area Trails” Draft Environmental Assessment (EA). This draft outlines various alternatives for managing e-bike usage within the Jackson Ranger District, assessing both environmental and social impacts.
Residents and interested parties are invited to an open house at the Jackson Ranger District Office on January 30th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Here, Forest Service staff will be available to discuss the proposed plans, alternatives, and their analyzed effects.
The Draft EA is accessible online at the project webpage. Comments can be submitted directly through the “Comment on Project” option under the “Get Connected” tab on the site. Alternatively, comments can be mailed or delivered to the Jackson Ranger District Office located on North Cache Street in Jackson. The deadline for comments is 30 days from the publication date of the legal notice in the Casper Star-Tribune.
This draft follows previous public engagement efforts including a scoping period and an open house in the fall of 2023. Further community involvement included an informational video, a public e-bike workshop, and direct consultations with local stakeholders. An interdisciplinary team from the Forest Service analyzed the data, reviewed e-bike literature, examined national trends, and conducted on-the-ground assessments to refine the proposed alternatives.
