A shortage of the right type of housing to fit local needs is a common challenge for all Wyoming communities.
Unmet housing needs lead to higher costs for families, a shortage of workers for businesses and fewer resources for local governments.
The Wyoming Business Council’s updated housing profiles offers an overview of the variety of housing struggles faced by each county. The profiles, which can be found at www.wyomingbusiness.org/commtoolbox, address commuter patterns, poverty, unemployment rates and how much of a family’s income is committed to housing costs. Each profile then draws conclusions from this wealth of data that may point local leaders toward potential solutions.
The county profiles are only one piece of the Business Council’s toolkit to address housing needs in the state. The toolkit also aggregates best practices, housing resources and local success stories.
This is the second year the Business Council has provided housing data on each of Wyoming’s 23 counties.
