Wyoming’s US Senator Liz Cheney has spoken out sharply against the movement on Capitol Hill to challenge the outcome of the electoral college. Cheney, who is the third-ranking Republican in the House, posted her statement on Facebook less than a day after she denounced her Republican colleagues for their plans to challenge the results. That stand puts her in direct opposition with newly-elected Senator Cynthia Lummis who has joined the 11 other Senate Republicans planning to challenge the 2020 election results. The 12 senators, led by Ted Cruz, released a joint statement asking Congress to immediately appoint an Electoral Commission to investigate the election and “conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states.” Senator John Barrasso, meanwhile has shied away from making any statement on the movement. Originally, the full Wyoming delegation including Lummis recognized Biden as president-elect after the Electoral College certified the election results December 15th.
