Courthouse Fails, Rest Of SPET Passes

Teton Valley Recount

Teton County voters approved nine of the ten ballot issues proposed for Special Purpose Excise Tax during Tuesday’s election. According to the Teton County Clerk’s office, 6,267 of the county’s 12,961 registered voters turned out to determine the fate of the projects. Town of Jackson Downtown Water Quality Improvement Infrastructure – Cache Creek Project was approved by 75% of the voters, Core Services Vehicle Maintenance Facility was given the nod by 54% of the voters, Teton County Courthouse was disapproved by a margin of 57% to 42%, “Road to Zero Waste” Infrastructure Improvements at the Teton County Recycling Center enjoyed a 74% support, Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Wildland Firefighting Apparatus Replacement easily won with 85% of the voters approving the expenditure, Gregory Lane – Street, Stormwater and Sewer Infrastructure saw 59% approving the project, Community Housing Opportunities garnered the support of 57%, History Museum Building – Genevieve Block was supported by 61% of the voters, Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center Expansion and Renovation enjoyed a 57% approval vote, and Wildlife Crossings was approved by 78% of the voters. The total commitment for the nine projects is $75-million.
