With a holiday weekend and hunting season coming up, Caribou-Targhee National Forest is cautioning that this is the time of year when the bears will be out and about fattening up for winter.
Fall is also a prime time when it comes to folks being in the Forest. Whether checking out the fall foliage, hunting, fishing, or just exploring before winter sets in, the cooler weather is perfect for getting out and enjoying yourself.
However, no matter if you are a veteran of getting out in the woods, or a newcomer exploring for the first time, always be “Bear Aware” to help minimize the chance encounters. Be conscious of your surroundings, and always carry bear spray and have it handy.
