Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area (Teton Habitat) announces the final eight future homebuyers of The Grove. Wendy Martinez, Homeowner Services Manager, along with the rest of the Habitat staff welcomed Tait Graham, Angela Zarate, Anika Youcha, Katie Beech, Ruben Cortes, Hugo & Magali Alvarado, Erica & Flavio Munguia Fuentes, and Lizmairu Olvera into the Habitat Homeownership Program on Tuesday evening. The future homebuyers signed their Partnership Agreement documents which commits them to the Habitat program requirement of 500 sweat equity hours, 15 Future Homebuyer Education Classes, and saving $2,500 for closing costs. They will spend the next sixteen months working on these commitments in order to purchase their homes with a 30-year, 0% interest mortgage.
“This is a true partnership. These families have their work cut out for them but we are excited to help them along their path to homeownership,” says Kris Greenville, Executive Director.
Application for the final eight homes at The Grove were accepted until mid-August. Applicants are selected for the Habitat Program based on Teton Habitat’s three criteria– Need for Housing, Ability to Pay and Willingness to Partner. A selection committee, made up of a diverse group of community members, then reviews the applications and makes a recommendation to Teton Habitat’s Board of Directors.
The next step for the future homebuyer will be to meet their Homebuyer advocates, which are volunteers in the community that will become a resource for our future homebuyers as mentors up to the time of closing. After meeting their respective advocates, our future homebuyers will be ready to begin tackling their sweat equity and homebuyer education classes.
