Idaho Fish and Game is asking for the public’s assistance in investigating a wildlife crime involving 43 ducks that were shot and left to waste on Pine Creek Pass in Bonneville County. Conservation officers discovered the ducks on November 12, 2024, near Upper Rainey Creek Road, about half a mile from State Highway 31 at the top of the pass.
The ducks, most of which were intact and unfrozen, appeared to have been dumped earlier that same day. IDFG Regional Conservation Officer Barry Cummings expressed disappointment over the incident, emphasizing that the needless wasting of wildlife is both illegal and unethical.
The investigation is ongoing, and IDFG is seeking any information that could help identify those responsible. The public is encouraged to contact the Upper Snake Regional Office at 208-525-7290 or the Citizens Against Poaching Hotline at 1-800-632-5999. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to a citation for the wildlife crime.
Anyone who witnesses or hears of wildlife violations is reminded to report incidents promptly to assist in protecting Idaho’s natural resources.
