With jockeying for write-in campaigns being the highlight of the local primary election, general election ballots will now take shape.
It takes longer to determine which candidates that write-in totals are for and we are awaiting that information. Because anyone’s name can be written in, we will not know officially who the write in votes are for until later this week.
In the high-profile mayoral contest, vote numbers show incumbent town councilwoman Hailey Morton-Levinson has received 1556 votes. Michael Kudar who mounted a write-in campaign to run for mayor will await the final tally to find out if he will appear on the ballot in November. There were 711 write-in votes cast.
In the town council race, two potential candidates sought to have their names on the ballot. There were 339 write-in votes cast in the council race. Both Jen Ford and Jessica Sell Chambers sought support as write-ins and we will see who will be a write-in challenger to vie for a seat on the council with current mayor Pete Muldoon who received 1234 votes in tonight’s primary, and challengers Devon Viehman with 1068 votes and Jim Rooks topping the vote count with 1441 votes..
In a full-on primary contest with two Republicans and two Democrats seeking positions on the county commission
Current chairwoman and Democrat Natalia Macker received 2444 votes while party colleague and incumbent Greg Epstein garnered 1950.
For the Republicans, Peter Long received 1969 votes while Christian Beckwith got 1234.
They will join Wes Gardiner, an independent candidate on the fall Ballot.
