Teton County Assessor Melissa Shinkle has announced that applications for the Long-Term Homeowners Exemption (HB03) are now open. This exemption provides eligible homeowners a 50% reduction on the assessed value of their primary residence, which includes up to 35 acres of land.
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The property owner or their spouse must be 65 years of age or older at the time of application.
- The applicant must have paid residential property taxes in Wyoming for at least 25 years, and they must provide the necessary documentation showing years of payment, residential address, and the county where the taxes were paid.
- The applicant must reside in the primary home for at least eight months of the year.
- Proof of age is required and can be provided with a Wyoming Driver’s License, Wyoming ID Card, Passport, or Birth Certificate.
Applications are available on the Teton County Assessor’s website (tetoncountywy.gov/assessor) or at the County Administration Building, located at 200 S. Willow St., Jackson, Wyoming. The deadline to submit applications is 5:00 p.m. on May 26, 2025.
