The Town of Jackson needs to add 18.5 million dollars to their budget to cover spending this fiscal year.
More than half the amount is to cover cost overruns on their new maintenance shop which overshot estimates made during the last Specific Purpose Excise Tax.
That addition to spending is 10.5 million dollars.
There is 1,500,000 for Smith Lane and Flat Creek Apartment housing projects, 291,000 for a thaw well contract, 134,000 for employee housing master leases, and other spending additions for street projects, a new police officer, snowplow blades, employee recruitment, and more.
The Town Council will vote on the 18 and a half million-dollar budget increase resolution at tonight’s meeting at the Town hall on Pearl Street beginning at 6PM
The Council will also discuss whether to spend more than a quarter-million dollars to purchase anti-vehicle barriers to use in place of jersey barriers for large-crowd events. The Town of Jackson will seek 272000 dollars from the Travel and Tourism board for the purchase.
